The year the first official game of women's football was played here in Australia.
The same year that women were banned from playing or attending association pitches and matches.
Despite more than 50 years of dormancy before that ban was lifted and decades of minimal resourcing, women have kicked, tackled, and dribbled our way out of the shadows of local pitches and into the floodlights of the stadium. All for the love of the beautiful game.
1921 exists to celebrate the players, moments, and culture that make the women's game unique. We want to share and amplify the skill, drive and passion that continue to inspire changes to football across gender and geography.
